====== Electrocompetent cells ======

For any strains available, we offer electrocompetent cells. 

===== Electrocompetent cell prep can be tedious & unrewarding. We have a few protocols available.=====

In the purest form, you only need to collect cells at a high density without contaminants and in 10% glycerol. We recommend starting from fresh 2 day old cultures, or collecting from a 2 day old plate. 

Washing many times with sterile water is often easier than using glycerol. The final wash and remainder of the prep should be 10% glycerol. While lower temperatures during the process is common in the literature, we have found room temperature is sufficient.
