GV means Genetische Virologie, the old name of the Ghent University department containing the laboratories of Jeff Schell and Marc Van Montagu worked.
The number 3101 refers to the strain number in the original collected, made by Marcel Holster who cure the pTiC58 Ti plasmid from the Rifampicin resistant strain C58. C1 often stands for cured 1, and MP is an abbreviation for Max-Planck.
